A Student’s Pass does not automatically make its holder eligible for Singapore PR. Start with the actual application category and its conditions, not a promised shortcut or a fixed study duration.
ICA lists students studying in Singapore who have passed at least one national examination—PSLE or GCE N, O or A Levels—or are in the Integrated Programme (IP), among those who may apply for PR. Its current eligibility page does not state a universal two-year study requirement.
Meeting a category permits an application; approval is not automatic. University enrolment, an international-school qualification or an award should not be assumed to satisfy the national-exam condition.
With the SEC examination beginning in 2027, check ICA’s published student criteria again for your qualification and application date. Do not infer a new eligibility rule before ICA states it.
A family category can apply to an unmarried child below 21 born within a legal marriage to, or legally adopted by, a Singapore citizen or PR. Having any relative in Singapore is not sufficient to establish that category.
Someone who later holds an EP or S Pass may apply under that listed category. A job offer, internship or part-time work by itself is not the same as holding the qualifying pass. See the EP-to-PR application guide.
GIP is a separate investor programme with demanding business and investment conditions. It is not a generic exceptional-talent or student-award pathway. Verify any specialist route with the responsible agency rather than treating a portfolio or competition result as automatic eligibility.
ICA states that male applicants granted PR as foreign students or under their parents’ sponsorship are liable for National Service. Registration and enlistment are distinct, and deferment has specific limits. Read the official NS guidance linked from ICA’s PR page before making decisions.
A pending PR application does not remove Student’s Pass or other immigration conditions. Keep the appropriate permission valid and follow the outcome and formalities instructions.
For school and pass logistics, read studying in Singapore; for family categories, read PR sponsorship and family stay options.
No. Use ICA’s listed category and conditions. A duration alone does not create automatic PR eligibility.
No. Check the national-exam or IP condition and any other category that genuinely fits.
No. ICA assesses the application and decides the outcome.
For PR application preparation, see TIP’s PR application support or arrange a complimentary consultation to confirm the available scope. ICA makes the decision; assistance cannot guarantee approval. School admissions and financial decisions remain separate.
