Relocating a business to Singapore involves more than registering a company. You need to plan how the business will operate, who will work here, the relevant work-pass requirements and the timing of any family move. Incorporation does not automatically confer permission to work or permanent residence.
Describe the products or services, intended customers, ownership structure and the work that will take place in Singapore. Identify the decisions that require advice from the appropriate corporate, accounting or legal provider. An immigration application should accurately reflect the business and your role in it.
Consider premises, staffing, business licences where applicable, ongoing operating costs and the records you will need to maintain. These are business-planning questions; they should not be reduced to an incorporation package or a promise of PR.
An Employment Pass and an EntrePass have different eligibility criteria. EP candidates must meet MOM’s qualifying salary requirement and, unless exempted, pass COMPASS. The salary threshold depends on age and sector. Check MOM’s current EP requirements, including the changes for new applications from 1 January 2027 and renewals of passes expiring from 1 January 2028.
EntrePass is intended for eligible entrepreneurs running a venture-backed business or one that owns innovative technologies. It is not suitable for every company or business activity. Review MOM’s EntrePass eligibility guidance before choosing it as your route.
Allow for preparation and assessment, and avoid treating a proposed pass application as an approved relocation timetable. Family members’ immigration arrangements should also be checked separately.
Use the official checklist for the application type rather than assuming that every relocation requires the same documents. Information in the company records, forms and supporting materials should be consistent.
A business owner should assess PR eligibility independently of company incorporation or work-pass planning. Business ownership does not create a fixed route to approval. GIP is a distinct programme for qualifying investors and has its own conditions.
Read how business relocation relates to work passes and PR before relying on a residency claim in a sales proposal.
TIP publishes information on work-pass application services and GIP support. Contact our team to discuss your intended role, application route and the written service scope. Confirm which tasks are included and which require another provider. No service package guarantees a work pass or PR outcome.
