After receiving the Citizenship IPA letter, the first required step to complete is the Singapore e-Journey.
The e-Journey, as per its name, is a mandatory online programme designed to help citizens understand Singapore.
The programme is fully virtual, offering a straightforward, accessible way to understand Singapore’s history, politics, geography, and shared values. You can do it at your own pace from home without the need to attend any physical classes or seminars.
Before starting, do ensure that your browser is up-to-date, and any pop-up blockers are disabled to avoid disruptions.
To begin, head over to the official portal at (www.sgjourney.gov.sg). Keep in mind that every applicant between the ages of 16 and 60 must complete this entire process individually.
You will log in using your Singpass and if you do not have an active account yet, do account for the 2 to 5 working days it currently takes for registration and approval [1]. Once you are logged in, your unique application ID will automatically populate the screen. From there, simply enter your In-Principle Approval (IPA) date, select your preferred salutation, indicate your English proficiency, and double-check that your pre-filled contact details (current address, mobile number, and email) are accurate.
Before you dive into the core content, you will fill out a brief, elementary survey. It is a quick introduction that helps customize and personalize the digital experience for your specific background.

For 2026, the e-Journey has been expanded and now consists of seven chapters and a final survey, taking approximately 2.5 hours to complete [2]. Together with the Singapore Experiential Tour (SET) and the Community Sharing Sessions (CSS), all components must be completed within your IPA validity periodr (typically 60 days) [3], so it is important to start early.
Here is a spoiler-free overview of the themes you will encounter:
The experience wraps up with a general feedback survey designed to help the developers refine the e-Journey for future applicants. Once submitted, your main dashboard will update to show your completed status alongside a real-time countdown of the days you have left to finish your remaining citizenship formalities. With those deadlines looming, it is best to keep the momentum going!
So what is next?
Stay tuned for our upcoming guides on these events; the process only gets more engaging from here.
