The application process is now entirely online.  Form A4, 4B, 4SC and 4AP which used to be a physical document you needed to submit, are no longer required. The system will automatically generate the information required based on your specific circumstances, ensuring you only provide the relevant details for your application according to your profile.

While the application process is now delightfully streamlined thanks to online forms, keep in mind that these forms are not pre-fillable and downloadable, such as Form 4A/ Form 4SC / Form 4AP and so on. This means you’ll need to fill them out directly on the ICA website.

Here’s a crucial tip: to ensure a smooth experience, gather all your required documents beforehand. The system allows you to save your progress for up to 7 days, but any unsaved information will be lost after that period. Be prepared to complete the application in one sitting or within a short timeframe.

Extensive Family Information

Previously, family member information for PR applications wasn’t very detailed. The ICA only requested minimal information such as present whereabouts and occupation. Now, you’ll need to provide more specifics about your parents, siblings, or other dependents. This includes their work, education qualification, and salary. These information were only requested previously from shortlisted candidates after the initial application process, which led to a longer processing time. With the implementation of the new updates, this will definitely reduce the waiting time.

Simplified Address Requirements

Previously, you needed to provide a record of your residential address history for the past 10 years. This could be a hassle if you’ve moved frequently or lived in different countries. Now, it’s been simplified to just the past 6 years.  The overseas address requirement has also been relaxed, requiring only the province instead of the full address.

So, for applicants who have moved to multiple countries before, this reduces the burden of gathering past address information and allows for a more streamlined application process.

Uploading Supporting Documents Made Easier

The Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) understands that your journey to Singapore PR is unique. Previously, there wasn’t a clear way to upload additional documents. For employment proof, you’ll now need:

• Letter of employment with 3 months validity (previously 1 month) – This demonstrates a more established role within a company.
• Overseas tax assessment records for the past 3 years (only applicable if working overseas) – This verifies your income level if you’ve been working outside of Singapore.

**For self-employed individuals, additional documents like company registration and financial statements will still be required.**

Marriage & Birth Certificate Updates

The Singapore government does keep a record of all birth and marriage registrations done in Singapore. In the past, when you are submitting your PR application, you had to submit all these documents even if your birth or marriage certificate was issued in Singapore.

Under the new updates, the ICA streamlined birth certificate and marriage certificate requirements. Unless your marriage certificate and birth certificate was not issued in Singapore, you do not need to submit all these documents anymore.

Relaxed Residency Requirements for Student PR Applicants

Great news for students! In the past, students in Singapore who wanted to apply for PR needed to have resided here for at least 2 years after passing a national exam (PSLE, GCE ‘N’/’O’/’A’ levels) or being enrolled in the Integrated Programme (IP). However, under the new updates, eligible students can now apply for PR immediately upon passing one of these national exams.
