A foreigner with an Employment Pass (EP), S Pass, Personalized Employment Pass (PEP), or Entrepreneur Pass (Entre Pass) can only bring their legal spouse and their unmarried child under the age of 21 years old to live in Singapore with the dependant pass.
What about other family members?
That’s when applying for Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) comes in useful. With LTVP Singapore, foreigners with work passes can bring in other family members to stay in Singapore for extended periods.
Singapore citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents (PR) can also sponsor LTVP for their family members. Read on to see the benefits of LTVP Plus (LTVP+).
Suppose you are considering applying for a long-term visit pass in Singapore. This article will cover who is eligible to apply for LTVP Singapore, the procedure, and the LTVP renewal that will be important for you to note.

Foreigners with a work pass (EP, S Pass, PEP or Entre Pass) can apply for the Singapore long-term visit pass for their common-law spouse, stepchild or disabled child to stay in Singapore for a period.
For foreigners keen to apply long term visit pass for their family members, you must fulfil the following criteria:
Another thing to note for foreigners with work passes, you need your employer or appointment employment agent (EA) to assist in the LTVP application on your behalf. You cannot apply for a long-term visit pass yourself.
The table below summarises the foreigner’s family members who can be long-term visit pass holders.
Foreigner’s family members that can be LTVP holders: |
Common-law spouse |
Unmarried disabled children above 21 years old |
Unmarried stepchildren under 21 years old |
Parents (only applicable for foreigner who earns a monthly salary of at least S$12,000). |
An LTVP allows common-law spouse, stepchild or disabled child to stay in Singapore for more than 30 days. On average, an LTVP is valid for two years. In some instances, the stay can extend to 3 or 5 years. ICA evaluates applications on a case-by-case basis.
It is easier for Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents (PR) to sponsor LTVP for their family members. They will be able to do it themselves instead of through their employer or appointed EA. There is also no minimum monthly salary to consider when sponsoring LTVP for their parents too.
A Singapore citizen or Singapore PR can apply LTVP for the following family members:
A mother or grandmother who is a Singapore Citizen or PR is allowed to sponsor LTVP for their child or grandchild studying in Singapore on a Student’s Pass. This scheme is called “Long-Term Visit Pass for Accompany Mothers/Grandmothers for Student Pass Holders”.
LTVP holders are not allowed to work unless they possess a valid work visa. The LTVP holders would need to get a job in Singapore first before they can request their employer to apply for the Letter of Consent (LOC).
For foreigners, applying for a long-term visit pass may seem overwhelming initially. It helps to understand the overview of the process before applying.
Step 1: Your employer/employment agency (EA) will submit a filled-out application form through the myMOM Portal.
Step 2: Your family must go to Singapore and ensure they have complied with the vaccination travel requirements.
Step 3: Your employer or EA will issue the pass for the family members.
Step 4: Family members will have their photos taken and their fingerprints registered.
Step 5: Each family member receives the LTVP card.
Like any other application, the LTVP application will require you to prepare documents like passport details and birth certificates. You can find the documents required on the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) website.
Take note; one application is only for one family member, each with a processing fee of $105 when submitting the long-term visit pass. There will be additional fees upon a long-term visit pass application approval.
The successful LTVP applicants will need to download their In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter and undergo a compulsory medical check-up before completing their long-term visit pass formalities.

Singapore long-term visit pass holders can start to renew their LTVP pass six months before it expires. You will retain the remaining days. The duration of the renewed LTVP will only start when the current one expires.
MOM states that the LTVP renewal is NOT guaranteed. Once again, the ICA will uniquely evaluate every applicant based on their profile’s eligibility.
The government introduced the Long-Term Visit Pass-Plus (LTVP+) scheme to help qualified Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents with their foreign spouses.
Eligible foreign spouses of Singapore citizens who apply for LTVP would be automatically considered for LTVP+. Couples must pass either of these criteria:
– Have at least one Singaporean child from their marriage.
– Be in at least three years of marriage, and the sponsor (the Singapore citizen) must prove that they have the financial ability to support their foreign spouse.
An approved LTVP+ holder is granted a stay of three years in Singapore. When renewed, LTVP holders can stay in Singapore for another five years.
Aside from a more extended stay duration, LTVP+ holders will also be entitled to healthcare and are allowed to work in Singapore.
